HBO’s ‘Euphoria’ Will Release ‘Bridge’ Episodes Due To Season Two Delays

HBO’s Award-winning series Euphoria, featuring history-making Emmy winner Zendaya, won’t return until 2022 due to delays caused by the pandemic––but fans of the cutting edge drama can look forward to a surprise this year.

Casey Bloys, president of HBO, told Deadline that the network is preparing a “special COVID episode” of the series to help relieve the undesirable two year wait (potentially) for new episodes. “I don’t really know how to describe it,” Zendaya told Jimmy Kimmel back in August, “but [it’s] an episode that we can do with a limited amount of people in a safer environment so we have something to live on until we are able to go into Season 2.”

A few more details were given by Zendaya in an interview with ET Online: “All I can really say is that season 2 won’t happen for a while, but we do have a couple bridge episodes that we’re shooting currently that aren’t really part of season 1 or season 2 but kind of give people a little something different with Euphoria to hold us over a little bit until we’re able to do a full season 2,” she said. “But I’m very happy with the work that we’re doing so far, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it, really.”

Zendaya’s recent Emmy win for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series made her the youngest actress ever to win the prize, and only the second Black actress following Viola Davis. Furthermore, Euphoria’s Emmy wins in multiple categories has given HBO the most wins ever, and it is well deserved.
