Idris Elba’s Comedy Series ‘In The Long Run’ Channels His Childhood
Created by Idris Elba, the upcoming Sky One series In The Long Run is roughly based on Elba’s childhood. Set in 1980s London, the series will follow the Easmon family, who has settled in England after leaving their West African home country, Sierra Leone, over a decade ago.
Elba will star as Walter, a family man working at a local factory with his neighbor, Bagpipes (Bailey). His wife sells makeup door-to-door, and the married couple is quite happy with their comfortable routine life. But when Walter’s brother Valentine (Akingbola) arrives in town, their quiet and ordinary lives are quickly replaced with a chaos they weren’t prepared for. Yet, Valentine’s energetic love for life and humorous personality may be just what the Easmon family was missing.
In The Long Run stars Idris Elba, Jimmy Akingbola, Bill Bailey, Mattie Boys, and Madeline Appiah, and is a co-production between Green Door and Sprout Pictures. The series will premiere on Sky One in the U.K. on March 29th.
