Michelle Obama’s Memoir Will Take Readers On A ‘Deeply Personal’ Journey
Michelle Obama announced on Sunday that her memoir, Becoming, will be released on November 13th of this year. As one of the most compelling and inspirational women in our time, it comes as no surprise that the former first lady’s memoir has quickly surfaced as one of the most anticipated reads in the recent decades. “Writing Becoming has been a deeply personal experience,” Obama expressed on Twitter. “I talk about my roots and how a girl from the South Side found her voice. I hope my journey inspires readers to find the courage to become whoever they aspire to be. I can’t wait to share my story.”
The memoir, distributed through Crown Publishing Group, will be available in 24 different languages. According to the publisher, readers can expect Becoming to personally reflect on Michelle’s comprehensive story, in her own words and “on her own terms.” From the triumphs to the disappointments, Becoming is the “deeply personal reckoning of a woman of soul and substance,” who continuously manages to exceed expectations and break barriers.
On November 13th, we’re ready to follow the courageous, passionate footsteps of our former first lady with Becoming. Until then, catch up on Michelle’s strikingly different first book, “American Grown: The Story of the White House Kitchen Garden and Gardens Across America,” which raises important conversations about the foods we consume, and celebrates thriving gardens across the nation.
9/12/18 update:
On Instagram, Michelle Obama announced exciting news about her upcoming book tour for Becoming. On the same day that the memoir is released (Nov. 13), Obama will kick off her 10-date tour, beginning in her hometown of Chicago. “This fall, I’d like to share that fuller story with all of you on my book tour. It’s the story of my humdrum plainness, my tiny victories, my lasting bruises, my ordinary hopes and worries,” she wrote. “It’s the story of who I am, truly, and I’m proud of it—blemishes and all.”
