LISTEN: Sade Returns With New Music For ‘A Wrinkle In Time’ Soundtrack

We’ve got exciting news for admirers of the Smooth Operator. After a lengthy eight-year hiatus, the legendary Sade has returned to record a new song specifically for Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time, set to be released on March 9th.

Award-winning director Ava DuVernay took to Twitter to announce the news, saying, “I never thought she’d say yes, but asked anyway. She was kind + giving. A goddess. We began a journey together that I’ll never forget.”

Titled “Flowers of the Universe,” the song will mark Sade’s first new tune since the release of her 2010 album Soldier of Love. The soundtrack will also feature other dynamic female voices, such as Sia, Kehlani, Demi Lovato, and sister duo Chloe x Halle. Additionally, Game of Thrones composer Ramin Djawadi will provide original composition for the movie. Clearly, Ava and the team behind the film have done a phenomenal job to ensure that diversity and representation is relevant, and that it absolutely matters. Not only does this ring true for the casting, but with A Wrinkle in Time’s soundtrack as well.
