Trailer: Michael B. Jordan Defends Jamie Foxx In Death Row Drama ‘Just Mercy’

The first trailer for Just Mercy has been released by Warner Bros.

Adapted from the 2015 New York Times best-selling memoir of attorney and activist Bryan Stevenson, the biographical drama follows Stevenson, played by Michael B. Jordan, as he takes on the case of Alabama’s death row inmate Walter McMillian (Jamie Foxx).

McMillian was accused of murdering 18-year-old Ronda Morrison, despite there being evidence and witnesses supporting his innocence. Regardless, he served six years on death row before being exonerated. “It’s never too late for justice,” Stevenson says in the trailer. “If we can look at ourselves closely, we can change this world for the better. We all need grace. We all need mercy.”

Directed by Destin Daneil Cretton, the drama also stars Brie Larson, Rob Morgan, Rafe Spall, Tim Blake Nelson, and O’Shea Jackson.

The film will have a limited release in theaters on December 25th, before its wide release on January 17th, 2020.
