Trailer: Unique Biopic ‘The Glorias’ Highlights Gloria Steinem’s Fight For Women’s Rights

The first trailer has been released for Julie Taymor’s upcoming Sundance film The Glorias. In the unconventional biopic, feminist icon Gloria Steinem is played by four actresses: Julianne Moore, Alicia Vikander, Lulu Wilson, and Ryan Kiera Armstrong, each portraying Steinem at different life phases. 

Adapted from Steinem’s autobiography “My Life on the Road,” the film begins during her time in India as a young adult, features Steinem’s founding of Ms. magazine, and follows her role in the women’s rights movement of the 1960s and ‘70s.  

As shown in the film’s preview, The Glorias will also highlight other significant women who fought for the Equal Rights Amendment, including Dorothy Pitman Hughes (Janelle Monae), Flo Kennedy (Lorraine Toussaint), Dolores Huerta (Monica Sanchez), Bella Abzug (Bette Midler), and Wilma Mankiller (Kimberly Guerrero). 

What makes The Glorias exceptional is that the biopic is not steered by men and romance, but focuses primarily on the admirable relationship Steinem has with herself, and the women she fought with for equal rights.  

Produced by Roadside Attractions and LD Entertainment, the movie will premiere September 30th on Amazon Prime Video. Watch the trailer below.
