WATCH: New Teaser For “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” Is Emotionally Gripping And Visually Stunning
The long-awaited sequel to the celebrated film Black Panther has finally received its first teaser trailer.
A graceful rendition of Bob Marley and the Wailers’ “No Woman, No Cry” and Kendrick Lamar’s “Alright” plays in the background of the dynamic trailer. In it, we’re given stunning shots of Wakanda’s landscape, impeccable outfits of royalty, and scenes featuring futuristic technology. Within the last seconds, there is a brief reveal of the new Black Panther, although who lives within the hero’s costume remains concealed.
Of course, hearts were heavy with the absence of the late Chadwick Boseman, who starred as Black Panther’s lead T’Challa. The teaser for Wakanda Forever pays tribute to Boseman with a breathtaking mural that lights up all of Wakanda. And certainly, there will be more ways than one in which the film honors Black Panther’s hero–– there seems to be a memorial service for T’Challa with an assembly of Wakandans all dressed in white.
In an interview with Variety, Letitia Wright, who stars as Shuri, reflected on how the cast kept Boseman’s legacy alive while filming the sequel. “We honored him by committing ourselves to the story that he started, the legacy that he started with this franchise,” Wright told Variety. “And we just committed every day to working hard, no matter what circumstances we faced — and we faced a lot of circumstances, a lot of difficult situations — but we came together as a team, and we poured everything into this movie, so I’m excited for you to see it.”
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is directed by Ryan Coogler, and stars Angela Bassett, Lupita Nyong’o, Letitia Wright, Danai Gurira, Florence Kasumba and Winston Duke. Newcomers to the series include Michaela Coel, Dominique Thorne, Alex Nivilani, Mabel Cadena and Tenoch Huerta.
The Marvel film will be released in U.S. theaters on November 11th. Below, watch the first teaser.
