Ziggy Marley Is Developing A Bob Marley Biopic With Paramount Pictures
Ziggy Marley, the eldest son of Bob Marley, is joining forces with Paramount Pictures to develop a biopic about the legendary musical icon who brought reggae into the mainstream. Although Marley died at the youthful age of 36, the impact he left behind was monumental.
Born and raised in Jamaica, Bob Marley began performing with The Wailers back in 1963, and went solo in the early seventies. Selling more than 75 million records worldwide, the “Buffalo Soldier” artist went on to becoming one of the most successful artists in history. Despite his achievements of great fame and fortune, Marley always honored his roots, and remained genuinely humble throughout it all.
Ziggy Marley was born in 1968 during the height of Bob Marley’s fame. He went on to becoming a phenomenal reggae musician as well, earning a total of eight Grammys for his contributions to music, and releasing 15 albums over the course of his lifetime. His latest album, “Rebellion Rises,” launched last month.
According to Deadline, the film will focus on the life of Bob Marley, and is in the early stages of development. At this time, no information has been revealed about the possible writers, directors, and producers who will be attached to the film.
Marley’s life story has been depicted multiple times in documentaries, with the most recent being Kevin Macdonald’s notable Marley (2012). Despite the fact that no specific details are available about the upcoming biopic, we are optimistic that Ziggy Marley will offer fans a new perspective about the life of his beloved father.
